Annual Fund 2010-11

Thanks to the generosity of our alumni, fellows and friends, GTC's second Annual Fund appeal raised over £95,000 in pledges from around 150 individuals, foundations and companies.

The Annual Fund working group, consisting of fellows, students and staff, have allocated gifts received to a broad range of projects across GTC, in accordance with the wishes of our donors and the needs of the college. The following projects have received grants:

Student Support

A Clarendon scholarship: For the second year running, the Annual Fund has supported a scholarship covering full tuition and college fees and a grant for living expenses for one of our DPhil students.
Green Templeton Boat Club: A grant has been awarded to GTBC to support coaching at Reading Rowing club, entry to regattas, and entry into the Head of the Charles in Boston, the largest boat race in the world.
Student life: A grant has been awarded to support College clubs, societies and sport, as well as the student induction process.

Academic Initiatives

Personal & Professional Development Series: A grant has been made to support this series which covers self-development, communication, influencing skills, and specialist support for developing academic conference skills. The series gives our students the opportunity to develop their skills under the guidance of experienced business mentors, giving them a valuable edge in whatever careers they pursue.
Science Research Students: A grant has been awarded to support a pilot programme providing our graduate science research students with workshops on how to present work, write papers and grant applications, and teach.
The Human Welfare Conference: For the second year running, the Annual Fund has also provided funding for our Human Welfare Conference, which supports original work in the field of human welfare and encourages dialogue on current research both within and outside the University community.

Buildings & Facilities

New multi-purpose building: A grant was awarded to purchase gym equipment to be installed in the new multi-purpose building.
Hayloft & Pavilion refurbishment: The Annual Fund is also supporting the refurbishment of Sports Pavilion and the Hayloft to enhance college facilities.
