GTC Annual Fund 2012-2013

Gifts to the GTC Annual Fund are used to support projects that bring 'added value' and enhance student life and experience at the College, such as improving sports and social facilities, supporting clubs and societies and providing vital funding to students in the form of scholarships, research grants and funding for College-based academic initiatives.

The Fund - which has been receiving support from our alumni and friends since 2009 - makes a huge difference to the quality of really important projects receiving support, and offers GTC students the opportunity to take forward bright and interesting ideas with the help of their peers and of the wider cross-college community.

Here's a look at how the successful bids last year have enhanced the student experience:

Sport and sporting facilities/equipment

The GTC Football Club benefited from a new strip, thanks to the Annual FundLast year a grant helped provide coaching, equipment and team development activities for GTC's young and very successful Squash Club. The training has helped to establish the Club as one of the strongest in the University.

The GTC Football Club received funding towards a new Club strip and new equipment.

The GTC Boat Club also received a grant which meant that over 60 GTC students had an opportunity to be involved in rowing action over the year, with taster sessions being offered to over 100 freshers.

Academic initiatives

The Human Welfare Conference 2013 again delivered a world-class programme and was able to use the Annual Fund grant to entice high-profile speakers and panel members to attend.

Enhancing student experience

Funding was again provided for student personal and professional development courses; for the Student Competitive Conferences and Fieldwork Fund, which is always vastly over-subscribed, and for a variety of projects for medical students.  Support for the Clarendon Scholarship continues in conjunction with the University,

Before I leave Oxford ........The 'Before I leave Oxford...' board was a great success during Freshers' Week, asking students to think about what they would like to get out of their Oxford experience from day one. The wall proved to be an easy conversation starter in those first few weeks at GTC and helped bring everyone together, strengthening the sense of community.

To all who have supported and continue to support the Annual Fund, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks. Your commitment really does enhance the future of our students at GTC.
