Tuesday 10 December 2013: Inaugural Oxford China Lecture in Shanghai
The University of Oxford China Office is happy to announce that the University will be hosting the first Oxford China Lecture in Shanghai on 10 December 2013.
The Oxford China Office has been working together with various colleagues across Oxford, led by the Public Affairs Directorate and the Events Team, with the consultation of senior Oxford alumni in Shanghai, to put together this event – the first time the annual Oxford London Lecture has been taken out of the UK. The speaker chosen by the Vice-Chancellor is Professor Steve Rayner, James Martin Professor of Science and Civilization and Co-Director of the Oxford Programme for Future Cities as well as Fellow of Keble. Steve will be speaking on the topic of ‘The Future City – Climate Change, Technology and the New Urbanisation’ and several eminent Chinese experts will be joining him on the panel discussion afterwards.
The invitation is open to all Oxford alumni and friends in Greater China, as well as selected senior government officials, business and academic leaders in China. The event will be one of the highest profile events the University has hosted in China, with national and international media coverage.
The event will comprise the lecture introduced by the Vice-Chancellor, followed by a panel Q & A. There will be a post-lecture reception for all guests and a small dinner for sponsors of the event and other VIPs. The venue will be confirmed shortly.
