Graduands are allocated a maximum of three guest tickets for both the graduation ceremony and College celebrations beforehand.
Graduands and guests are invited to attend a celebratory breakfast (for morning ceremonies commencing at 11am) or a light lunch (for afternoon ceremonies commencing at 2.30pm) at the College before the official graduation ceremony at a cost of £15 (inclusive of VAT) per adult, £7.50 per child (aged between 7 and 16 inclusive). There is no charge for children under the age of 7. Graduands will still be automatically booked into breakfast/lunch in advance, free of charge.
It is very important that graduands attend the GTC buffet breakfast/lunch which is an integral part of the day's events. The Principal will make a final presentation to all GTC graduands attending, you will be asked to sign the register of attendance and the Dean of Degrees will brief you on the procedure in advance of the ceremony at the Sheldonian Theatre.
It is recommended that children under the age of seven do not attend the ceremony but if Graduands do wish to bring their children, the parent/guardian should try to sit near an exit so that they may leave quickly and quietly should their children become restless. Please also note that any child attending will need their own degree ceremony ticket unless they will be sitting on their parent/guardian's lap. Graduands on graduation lists will be contacted approximately three months before their ceremony date to confirm their attendance, the number of guests they are bringing and any dietary requirements they may have. At this point Graduands will be advised on how to make payment for their guests.
