You may choose to take your degree in absentia (in absence) at any ceremony. The college quota system does not apply for those taking degrees in absentia. This is often the best choice for those students who require their degree certificates promptly for job related purposes. Please note however that if you take your degree in absentia you will not be able to attend a ceremony at a later date.
If you choose to graduate in absentia, the College Office will contact you and ask which address you would like your degree to be sent to. This will be sent out on the day of the ceremony, or the Monday after (if the ceremony is on Saturday). For more information on degree certificates please click here.
If you book a place to attend a ceremony but find you are unable to attend at short notice (within a month of the ceremony), you will graduate in absentia at that ceremony and you will not be able to attend a ceremony at a later date. Similarly, if you fail to attend the ceremony on the day, you will automatically graduate in absentia.
