Green Templeton College | Oxford

GTC Wireless Network

Wireless internet access is now available in the College Library, the Rotunda Reading Room, the Stables Bar, the Barclay Room, and their adjacent environment. The signal extends onto the gardens in front of the Observatory, as well as the areas in front of the Walton building.

The wireless implementation is part of the OUCS Oxford Wireless Lan (OWL) project, and has been set up entirely in line with their guidelines.

Note: This isn't a roaming network, so if you move out of the range of one access point and into another, you will have to disconnect and reconnect to the new access point before internet access is restored.

Full instructions on how to configure and use the College wireless network are available at www.oucs.ox.ac.uk/network/wireless/services/owl/vpn/.

You will need to obtain a Remote Access username and password, and also install the Cisco VPN client software on your computer, before you will be able to use the wireless network. Details are available at www.oucs.ox.ac.uk/network/vpn/index.xml.ID=prereq.

These are the same access requirements to allow remote access to the University network, and they ensure that the wireless network is secure and encrypted.

You can self-register for a remote access account, by going to https://register.oucs.ox.ac.uk and entering your details. Once logged in, click the 'Remote access' link to activate your account, and be presented with your login details.
