Green Templeton College | Oxford

First prize in the GTC Photography Competition 2014 has been awarded to staff member Debbie Tolond (Fees Administrator) whose entry caught Food and Beverage Manager Gary Strivens in a quiet moment in the dining room checking tables before the lunch service.

The theme of this year's competition was 'GTC at Work and at Play' and entrants were asked to submits photographs that capture the essence of the working and social life of the College, from academic and administrative work to sporting and social activities.

The runner-up prize was awarded to Sven Jungmann (Master of Public Policy) has won the Green Templeton College photography competition 2013-2014 with a black and white portrait of a fellow student working in the Stables Bar.

Sven's shot is entitled 'Anticipation' and depicts fellow student Suha Gangopadhyay while she served at the bar.

He explains: "I really love going to the bar, especially when I have guests come over for formal dinner. It's such a small, lively community. We've got a great collection of drinks and a wealth of fascinating people to talk to. This picture is taken through the door at the left entrance and it reminds me of the flush of pleasant anticipation I get every time I peak through the glass window of that door before entering."

Debbie and Sven both win cash prizes and their images will be featured in the GTC Magazine 2014 which is published in September.

This year, 13 College members entered the competition submitting 21 individual photographs.

The competition is made possible by a generous gift from Dr Elman Poole, a retired neurologist living in Oxford who is also a Common Room Member.
