Dr Harald Sourij, Robert Turner AssociateDr Harald Sourij has been appointed as the new Robert Turner Research Associate at Green Templeton College.

Dr Sourij graduated from Medical University Graz, Austria and is now Senior Clinical Researcher at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM) working with Professor Rury Holman.

He currently serves as the Academic Clinical Lead for one of the international megatrials (EXenatide Study of Cardiovascular Event Lowering - EXSCEL) run by the Diabetes Trials Unit.

In addition he works in Translational Research focusing on how to individualize diabetes treatment. With more than eight drug classes now licensed for glucose lowering treatment there is a major need to find the most beneficial drug regime for each patient.

The Robert Turner Research Associate scholarship funds postgraduate physicians or scientists, visiting from abroad, who are already working in the field of diabetes or related disciplines in Oxford.

The scholarship was set up by GTC Associate Fellow Dr Jennie Turner in memory of her husband, who was a founding Fellow of the former Green College.
