Eight participants enjoyed the third Oxford Praxis Forum reading weekend held in Spain last month.

"These weekends are proving a simple but highly effective format for allowing senior practitioners - this year ranging from a partner in a Big 4 professional service firm to a consultant anaesthetist in a major London hospital - to step back and reflect on their personal and professional challenges," said Marshall Young, Green Templeton Emeritus Fellow and a member of Praxis.

The range of books selected by the participants was as diverse as ever, as were the resulting discussions over meals.

After the weekends the books are offered to the College Library and so far they have all been accepted, contributing to a growing Praxis collection that is of interest and use to College members.

During the week, the group also enjoyed a concert of classical and flamenco guitar music in the hacienda chapel.

The group is pictured below, with the chef Fidel in pride of place in the centre of the photo, at the group's insistence in recognition of his major contribution to the special ambience they all had enjoyed.

Praxis is again grateful to Praxis member and Associate Fellow Robert Poynton for the use of his family's splendid hacienda (Dehesa De La Serna, outside Madrid) for the event.

"There is now a waiting list for these events and so more weekends are being planned for next year, including one in North America," added Marshall Young.
