Green Templeton College | Oxford

Vincent Ni

Vincent Ni, a Green Templeton College alumnus and a journalist at the British Broadcasting Corporation, has been chosen by Yale University as a 2018 World Fellow. He joins 15 others in this prestigious leadership development programme at one of the best universities in the world.

Vincent, who earned an MSc in Social Science of the Internet here in 2009-2010 and returned last year to give a lecture as part of the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism lecture series, is also a Fellow at Britain's Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). He has reported for the BBC from all over the world in both English and Chinese and is this year's only fellow from the Greater China region.

Of his appointment, Vincent said 'I am incredibly excited about this mid-career leadership development opportunity at Yale. This would not have been possible without having spent time at Oxford nearly ten years ago on a generous scholarship that brought me to England and taught me how to properly think.... I still vividly remember listening to the wise words from my college adviser Professor John Lennox at the Observatory. I recall also many interesting conversations, spanning the politics of modern medicine to the challenges of the media business model, with my friends in GTC.'

The Maurice R. Greenberg World Fellows Program is part of the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs; the programme uses leadership, service, and networking to empower globally consciencious individuals who strive to improve the world. Emma Sky, director of the programme, praised the extraordinary 'talent, bravery, and resilience' of this year's group of fellows, and Yale President Peter Salovey lauded their 'immense expertise and insights'. The new fellows join a community of 327 Fellows from 90 countries. Additional information on the programme and the 2018 World Fellows is available here.
