There are a great many enthusiastic and talented photographers at Green Templeton and in 2009 the College launched an annual photography competition open to all members of the College to showcase their creativity and artistic flair.
The competition is made possible by the generous support of Dr Elman Poole, a Common Room Member and a retired neurologist living in Oxford, who has long had an interest in photography. His support has made it possible to award prizes to the winner and the runner-up of the competition.
This year's photo competition winner was Bhagya Sivaraman, with her photo, 'In the Eye of the Beholder'. Below is a slide show of all of this year's record-breaking 49 entries!
Bhagya Sivaraman (MSc Social Intervention) has won the Green Templeton College photography competition 2015-2016 with a stunning photograph that creatively interpreted the competition theme.
The theme of this year's competition was 'Green Templeton Looking Out' and entrants were asked to submit original and interesting photographs that capture the essence of the College's outward-looking stance.
Bhagya's winning shot - which was taken on an iPhone 5C is entitled 'Eye' and depicts the Radcliffe Observatory reflected in the eye of an onlooker.
Bhagya explains: "I took this photograph in December 2015, standing near the designated smoking area close to the Mathematical Institute, opposite the Observatory. The reflection inside the watery eye on a cold, cold sunny morning exposes the elegance and royalty of the Observatory, conveying GTC 'looking out'."
The runner-up prize was awarded to MBA student Yiqin Wu for her shot of the Observatory through the windows of the greenhouse.
