Speaker: Professor Sir John Bell, Regius Professor of Medicine, University of Oxford.

Monday 22 February 2016

Although big data has heralded a transformative change in the way we conduct research and understand disease, medicine has been among the slowest of disciplines to recognise the value of large datasets.

Big data techniques could result in better understanding of diseases and improved targeting of treatments: combining data such as electronic health records, biobanks, and information generated from wearable devices could allow researchers to develop algorithms for diagnosis, therapeutic responses, and clinical decision support.
