Medics and Alumni Day Saturday 17 June

The College is hosting a medical day on Saturday 17th June for all those connected to Green Templeton and interested in medicine. So far, plans for the day include talks of general interest to medics, a buffet lunch/picnic, informal networking over tea/coffee and lunch, opportunities to tour the college (including refurbished areas), and croquet & Pimms at around 4pm with the GCR (start approx. 10am). There will be no charge, but we do need to have accurate numbers so please sign up.

We are inviting anyone who is connected with medicine at GTC: from the incoming Y4 BM students due to arrive in September to emeritus fellows (including students, alumni, fellows, teaching associates, common room members etc.)- and if you know of anyone we have left out, please feel free to forward this invitation and let me know about them.

Speakers so far include:
Gary Ford- Fellow of GTC and Chief Exec Oxford Academic Health Sciences Network
Charles Foster- Associate Fellow GTC and Barrister, interested in medical ethics (and natural history, taxidermy, theology and just about everything)
David Cranston- Fellow of GTC, urologist and author of 'Penicillin and the Legacy of Norman Heatley'
Denise Lievesley- Principal of GTC and Statistician (formerly Chief Executive of the English Health and Social Care Information Centre, among other roles)
Stephane Bermon- Common Room Member and expert on drug doping in sport (especially cycling)
Nicholas Hicks- Associate Fellow and CEO of COBIC (Capitated outcomes-based incentivised care)- and the new chairman of the Management in Medicine steering committee.

Laurence Leaver is also always pleased to hear from any alumni or others, with news about your careers, families and contemporaries, or offers of support* for our current students. *includes research projects (preferably with a likelihood of publication), elective opportunities, offers of ‘taster’ placements/careers advice for students or junior doctor alumni, and offers of teaching in Oxford or nearby DGH.
