Green Templeton College | Oxford

Gifts to the Green Templeton Annual Fund are used to support projects that bring 'added value' and enhance student life and experience at the College, such as improving sports and social facilities, supporting clubs and societies and providing vital funding to students in the form of scholarships, research grants and funding for College-based academic initiatives.

The Fund - which has been receiving support from our alumni and friends since 2009 - makes a huge difference to the quality of really important projects receiving support, and offers GTC students the opportunity to take forward bright and interesting ideas with the help of their peers and of the wider cross-college community.

Here's a look at how the successful bids last year have enhanced the student experience:

Sport and sporting facilities/equipment

Last year a grant helped provide coaching, equipment and team development activities for GTC's Squash Club. Grants from the Annual Fund continue to help the Club maintain its status as one of the strongest in the University. At grant to both the men's and women's Boat Clubs allowed them to represent the College at prestigious regattas; the women at the Head of the Charles in Boston and the men at Henley.

Academic initiatives

The Human Welfare Conference again delivered a world-class programme and was able to use the Annual Fund grant to entice high-profile speakers and panel members to attend. Other academic initiatives include the establishment of a criminology working group, where students can discuss their research ideas and general crime-related topics in an informal setting, and the 'Youth Voices in Youth Justice' Conference.

Enhancing student experience

Funding was again provided for student personal and professional development courses; for the Student Competitive Conferences and Fieldwork Fund, which is always vastly over-subscribed, and for a variety of projects for medical students. The Annual Fund also helped the College respond to an urgent appeal from the Graduate Common Room when the sound system in the bar died, just before a Bop!

To all who have supported and continue to support the Annual Fund, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks. Your commitment really does enhance the future of our students at GTC.
