Coronavirus Hardship Fund
Thank you for visiting this page to find out more about Green Templeton College’s Coronavirus Hardship Fund.
As the coronavirus pandemic plays out, members of the Green Templeton community, fellows, students, staff and alumni have been working in unprecedented ways to deliver world-class research with global benefits, and to make an impact on the frontline of this crisis. Some of our students and fellows have suspended their research and teaching in order to return to work in hospitals, and our final year medical students graduated early in March so they could start work immediately. We are immensely proud of the efforts of all our community in this unprecedented global emergency.
However, some of our students are experiencing financial challenges as a direct result of the impact of the pandemic, and we need your help.
Travel restrictions within the UK and overseas meant some students faced additional expenses travelling home at short notice. Research trips have been cancelled with no possibility of recouping costs. Studies have had to be extended due to lockdown measures and lack of access to research facilities and students are facing additional living costs of £1,000 – £1,600 per month. Many of them cannot extend their research funding and have lost earnings from part-time work.
We are launching our Coronavirus Hardship Fund to provide short-term support to those students who find themselves in difficult financial circumstances due to the impact of the pandemic; and to ensure that the college’s general hardship fund is not exhausted so we can help other students who may face financial challenges, not as a result of the impact of coronavirus.
Every gift, large or small, will have a life-changing impact on an individual, or in the wider world in which our students contribute.
