Anja Zehfuss and Jack Robertson to compete in the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race
Two Green Templeton students have been selected for the Oxford Blue Boats for the annual Boat Race with Cambridge. Anja Zehfuss (MPhil Development Studies, 2020) and Jack Robertson (MSc Sociology, 2021) will both take the #4 in the Women’s and Men’s race respectively. The race is set to take place on the River Thames in London on Sunday 3 April 2022.
The Boat Race between Oxford and Cambridge University started in 1829 and it is now one of the world’s oldest and most famous amateur sporting events. This year will be the 167th Men’s Boat Race and the 76th Women’s Boat Race. The event is regularly attended by over 250,000 spectators and watched by millions on television.

Anja started rowing in her first year of high school and had four years of rowing with the Chicago Rowing Foundation. She then went on to study and row at Stanford University with the Stanford Women’s crew for four years whilst studying as an undergraduate. During this time she was placed 3rd at PAC-12s and 6th at NCAAs freshman year, 3 seat of the v4. She also placed 3rd at PAC-12s and 4th at NCAAs sophomore year, 7 seat of the 2v. This is Anja’s second call up for the Blue’s having also competed in the 2021 Boat Race.

Jack began rowing in his hometown of Melbourne whilst attending Melbourne Grammar School. He then went on to study at the University of California Berkeley, where he achieved Pac-12 All-Academic First Team Honours (2019, 2020), IRA All-Academic Team Honours (2019) and in 2020 was awarded the Golden Bear GPA Award for the Highest Grade Point Average for the Men’s Rowing Team at Berkeley. This is Jack’s first call up for the Blue’s Boat.

The Boat Race will take place on the championship course between Putney and Mortlake on in South West London. It will be broadcast live on the BBC with the Women’s race set to start at 14:23 and the Men’s race at 15:23 on Sunday 3 April.
