Maki Recital
It was a full house for Maki Sekiya’s first recital as GTC’s Musician in Residence in the Observatory Common Room last Sunday in a generous programme including major works by Schubert and Mussorgsky. With her prodigious technique, Maki revealed the nuances of Schubert’s monumental Wanderer Fantasia, making the subtlest of transitions between the contemplative and the tempestuous. Equally majestic was her account of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, a performance which seized and never let go of the audience’s rapt concentration.

Maki will be giving a repeat performance of last Sunday’s programme in a public recital sponsored by GTC at 7:30pm on Saturday, 25 November in St John the Evangelist Church (109A Iffley Road, Oxford, OX4 1EH). Tickets are available via the SJE website - an opportunity not to be missed!

The Musician in Residence project is made possible through generous sponsorship by members of GTC’s Governing Body and by many others both inside and outside the College.
