Associate Fellows are appointed by the Governing Body to help it meet its objectives by drawing on a measure of seniority and distinction in the different communities with which the College wishes to engage (eg the professions, business, not for profit, public affairs) or by undertaking  particular, including  remunerated, tasks, including  being asked, if appropriate, to act as College Advisers to a small number of students. Election is for three years. The Associate Fellows include the Joan and Richard Doll Fellows, who contribute to medical teaching.
