Frederik H. Verbrugge is a Cardiologist/Intensive Care physician with dedicated interest in heart failure, (exercise) hemodynamics & cardiorenal physiology. Dr. Verbrugge graduated as M.D. in 2010 (KU Leuven, Belgium) & obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2015 (Hasselt University, Belgium). He works as Clinic Head at University Hospital Brussels (Belgium), caring for patients with heart failure, attending the cardiac intensive care unit, and running the exercise physiology lab.
For his research, Dr. Verbrugge is also affiliated with Hasselt University and Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN, US). Dr. Verbrugge has published over 90 Pubmed-cited articles in the field of cardiology & heart failure. He authored a book chapter in “Heart Failure: A companion to Braunwald’s heart disease” (3rd edition, Elsevier, 2015) & has edited “Cardiorenal Syndrome in Heart Failure” (Springer Nature Switzerland AG, 2019). He currently serves as Deputy Editor for European Heart Journal: Acute Cardiovascular Care.
