Hi, my name is Verena and I am a third-year DPhil student in Psychiatry. I am fascinated by the interplay between physical and mental health, and how cognitive factors may impact this mind-body connection. In my doctorate, I am exploring the relationship between physical pain and suicidality. My research aims to ultimately inform the development of novel treatment strategies that help people to stay well despite experiencing adversity in life, thereby preventing the development of suicidality. Prior to commencing my DPhil, I completed both my Bachelor degree in Psychology and my Research Master degree in Clinical and Health Psychology at Leiden University, the Netherlands.
Outside of my studies, I enjoy doing sports (particularly rowing for GTBC, swimming and yoga), hiking, seeing musicals and travelling.
