William Leben, Green Templeton College student profileMPhil Development Studies

I am a serving officer in the Australian Regular Army. After graduating the Royal Military College – Duntroon in 2014, I completed my undergraduate degree with First Class Honours at the University of New South Wales, Canberra in 2015. I am an Armoured Corps officer and have served in a number of different roles since graduation, including deployment to Iraq in 2018.

In 2018 I was named a 2019 General Sir John Monash Foundation Scholar, and that Foundation is funding my study at Oxford. I will be studying an MPhil in Development Studies. I am looking forward to being in a challenging university environment and am keen to be involved in the live of the college while in the UK.

I have a deep interest in a range of topics, most notably the causes and nature of conflict, Australian foreign policy, the Asia-Pacific and leadership itself. I enjoy running, cross-country mountain biking, SCUBA diving and travel. I continue to attempt to learn to surf.
