Professor Michael Patton
Professor Michael Patton is an Emeritus Fellow of Green Templeton College, University of Oxford and Emeritus Professor of Medical Genetics, City-St Georges University of London.
He set up and led the SW Thames Regional Genetics Service and the Department of Medical Genetics at St Georges. His research interest was in the gene mapping of inherited malformation syndromes which included studies in isolated populations such as the Amish in Ohio and populations in the Sultanate of Oman. His research also focused on Noonan Syndrome and disorders of the RAS-MAPK pathway.
Between 2013 and 2019 he was Group Medical Director for a Joint Venture between the global pathology company Sonic Healthcare and UCLH and Royal Free Hospital. He co-founded the Birth Defects Foundation (now Newlife Charity) to support medical research and disability equipment. He has recently become Chair of the Kennedy Trust which is the principal funder for the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology in the University of Oxford.
