Dr Peter Burke
Dr Peter Burke is a Common Room Member at Green Templeton College, University of Oxford. Peter has been a member of common room since Green College days in the 1990s.
He comes originally from Dublin and moved to the UK to complete his GP training in 1982. After lecturing in primary medical care in Southampton, he came to Oxford in 1990 and was a partner in general practice on the Cowley Road until 2017. He continues to be active in teaching, and is the longest serving member of the communication skills team in the medical school, where he is currently an honorary senior clinical lecturer. He is a GP appraiser and an examiner for the Royal College of General Practitioners, and he is current chair of the RCGP Thames Valley Faculty.
He is very much involved in the European Movement and chairs Oxford for Europe, as well as the UK Metric Association. Since retirement from general practice he’s pleased to have more time for his three children and four grandchildren, as well as for reading the book choices of the Green Templeton College book club.
