Inaugural Conversations in Global Philanthropy meeting

Conversations in Global Philanthropy October 2025On 31 October 2025 the Green Templeton Global Philanthropy Initiative held the first meeting of its Conversations in Global Philanthropy discussion series.

The meeting focused on the recently released Handbook on Philanthropy and Social Policy (Edward Elgar, 2025; co-edited by Governing Body Fellow Professor Rebecca Surender). Surender and her two co-editors, Dr Roosa Lambin, a Research Associate at the Oxford Martin School, and Professor Jonathan Roberts of the Marshall Institute at the LSE, contributed to a lively conversation about philanthropic foundations and institutions and their increasingly prominent role within social policy settings around the world today.

The Conversations in Global Philanthropy discussion series fosters informed dialogue about contemporary philanthropic practice and research. It meets once per term.

The mission of the Global Philanthropy Initiative is to advance research on philanthropy and to improve the practice of philanthropy globally.
