Walking Directions From Woodstock Road Site To 13 Norham Gardens

Travelling to/from Oxford

Travel by Bus

There are very frequent services from London Victoria Station and Heathrow and Gatwick Airports, operated as ‘The Oxford Tube’. A less frequent service connects with Birmingham International Airport. There are connections with many other parts of the country, including a direct service to Cambridge.

The central bus and coach station in Oxford is called Gloucester Green. It is a 25-minute walk south of 13 Norham Gardens. There is a nearby taxi rank to the bus station, just across the square of Gloucester Green, outside the cinema.

Travel by Train

There are frequent direct trains from London Paddington and regular links northwards via Birmingham, southwards via Reading, and westwards via Didcot. Consult the National Rail website for full train timetables.

The Oxford central train station is a 30-minute walk from 13 Norham Gardens. There is a taxi rank outside the station.

The Oxford Parkway train station provides a fast train service from London Marylebone to north Oxford. There are several buses (2, 2A, 2D and S5) that leave regularly from Oxford Parkway and travel to the Bevington Road stop, which is a five-minute walk from 13 Norham Gardens. Consult the Chiltern Railways website for the Oxford Parkway trains timetable.

Car travel

It is advisable to avoid the city centre by approaching the Osler-McGovern Centre from the north, ideally on the A4165 (Banbury Road) or alternatively the A4144 (Woodstock Road), both of which are accessible from the ring road. If using the M40 from the north, leave at Junction 9 and take the A34 southbound. From the south-east, leave the M40 at Junction 8 and take the A40 northbound. This becomes the Oxford ring road (Northern Bypass) and you can then take the A4144 (Woodstock Road) from this.

If you are travelling to Oxford by car, please note that there are also severe restrictions on access to many of the streets in the centre of the City. Traditional routes such as High Street/St Aldates/Queen St and Cornmarket are either closed to vehicles or have very limited access and are protected by number plate-reading cameras and frequent police patrols. You have been warned!

Parking and Park & Ride

Parking in Oxford city centre is limited and often expensive. There are a handful of spaces on a meter outside the college (max stay of two hours, £4.00 per hour) as well as pay-and-display car parking spaces in St Giles and the surrounding streets. The nearest public car parks are at Worcester Street, Gloucester Green, the Westgate Centre and at the Railway Station. However the centre of Oxford is often extremely congested.

On occasion it is possible for us to arrange up to 2 parking spaces on site at 13 Norham Gardens but as this is a shared car park we cannot guarantee availability on the day(s) of your booking. If you are interested in parking on site please contact the Events teams at the earliest possible opportunity.

For information on parking in Oxford for people with disabilities, please see Oxfordshire County Council’s Blue Badge guidance.
