Book club: ‘Angle of Repose’

Thursday 8 May 2025   18:00 to 19:30

Associate Fellow Lindy Castell will introduce Angle of Repose by Wallace Stegner.

Angle of Repose is a geological term. It is the steepest angle at which a sloping surface formed of loose material is stable. It will vary accordingly to the mechanisms of shape and strength. In this book it refers to the life of two people: 1) a disabled historian; 2) his grandparents, in particular his grandmother. He investigates all the details of her long life as the wife of a mining engineer.

Location
