Dr Claire Keene, Research Fellow, Green Templeton College, and health systems researcher, University of Oxford. |
Location: |
EP Abraham Lecture Theatre, Green Templeton College |
This interactive workshop will take participants through the full journey of health service improvement, beginning with the importance of defining and understanding the problem before leaping to solutions. Participants will consider how to approach problems thoughtfully, experiment with designing interventions, and reflect on the challenges of making change in complex health systems. Through practical activities and group discussion, the session will encourage participants to think critically about what makes interventions succeed or fail.
About the speaker
Dr Claire Keene is a Research Fellow of Green Templeton College, University of Oxford. She is a health systems researcher and the Deputy Director of the MSc in Health Service Improvement and Evaluation, under the Nuffield Department of Medicine’s Centre for Global Health Research.
Claire brings a diverse background to her research: working as a medical doctor, conducting clinical trials and operational research, and leading a large HIV and tuberculosis project for Médecins Sans Frontières. She currently works as part of the Health Systems Collaborative in Oxford. Her research explores people’s engagement with HIV care, predominantly in a South African public sector context, including understanding patterns of engagement over time, qualitatively exploring people’s experiences and perceptions of services, and testing the implementation of differentiated models of service delivery to support people who find engagement challenging.
She is particularly interested in applying precision public health concepts to making service delivery more efficient and responsive to people’s needs.
