Alumna publishes on science of cooking for young readers

Sai Pathmanathan Holding 'chews Your Own Tasty Adventure Book'Congratulations to Dr Sai Pathmanathan (DPhil Biochemistry, 2000) who has released her second book, Chews Your Own Tasty Adventure.

The book, aimed at young readers, offers a culinary journey learning about the science and history of different ingredients. It is published by Faber & Faber and illustrated by Lucia Vinti.

Sai was inspired to write this book to show just how much science is involved in cooking and baking and that you really can experiment with ingredients to create a tasty dish, once you know the science. There is messaging around using leftovers, growing plants, where our food comes from, fermented foods and sustainability.

Dr Sai Pathmanathan has over 20 years of experience in science education. She develops activities and resources for all ages and abilities, and runs science clubs and community events. She also consults on science communication and public engagement projects.
