Elias Kun among those to compete in Boat Races

Elias Kun (MSc Financial Economics, 2023) will take the #5 seat in the Oxford Blue Boat for the annual Boat Race with Cambridge. The race is set to take place on the River Thames in London on Saturday 30 March 2024.

The Boat Race between Oxford and Cambridge University started in 1829 and it is now one of the world’s oldest and most famous amateur sporting events. This year will be the 169th Men’s Boat Race and the 78th Women’s Boat Race. The event is regularly attended by over 250,000 spectators and watched by millions on television.

Elias began rowing after seeing the German eight win Gold on Eton Dorney at the London Olympics. Elias has said, ‘Before actually coming to Oxford, I thought winning the boat race would be the ultimate reward for a year of hard work and the determination to get back into rowing after a year away from the sport. Winning the boat race to me means honouring and becoming part of a 190-year-old challenge alongside some of the most impressive people I have met in my life.’
