Fairtrade Fortnight 2023
Green Templeton is again supporting Fairtrade Fortnight, taking place this year from Monday 27 February to Sunday 12 March 2023.
Fairtrade is about social, economic, and environmental justice. These principles are built into the Fairtrade standards, which is supported by the college. The University of Oxford has been a Fairtrade accredited institution since 2018 and the college has helped them gain their 2-star accreditation this year.
Alongside regular every day items such as coffee and tea in the common room and sugar across all our meeting rooms, this fortnight Green Templeton has also been running a Fairtrade Hamper Raffle β whereby anybody buying Fairtrade chocolate bar from the servery at lunch or Fairtrade wine in the college bar receive free entries into the raffle!
There are now more than 6,000 Fairtrade products including coffee, tea, wine, sugar and chocolate but also clothing and beauty products available in the UK. Fairtrade sets social, economic and environmental standards for the companies and farmers involved in the supply chain. It is not just another label, but one of the most well established and comprehensive ways you can make a difference every day with your pound.
Green Templeton is committed to working sustainably and embedding sustainable thinking through education. We are proud to have achieved a Green Impact Gold Award for the second time in 2022, which recognises changing behaviours and making physical steps towards improving sustainable practices.
