Green Templeton Giving Day
Save the date for Green Templeton’s first Giving Day (actually 36 hours) to embrace college’s global network!
The Giving Day provides an opportunity to bring the Green Templeton community together to raise much needed funds for three separate areas: The Principal’s Fund, The Annual Fund, and the college’s Area of Greatest Need, currently our sustainability agenda.

Giving Day events:
The whole event kicks off with three challenges, which are designed to last 36 hours, and all three will start at 7.00am sharp. It will be a marathon, but all in a good cause!
Denise has agreed to the first challenge called Round the Houses, which will involve a visit to every head of house (all 37 of them, as well as the Vice Chancellor!) in 36 hours, where she will get a selfie as well as an unusual statistic about that college. There has been a fabulous response, so fingers crossed she’ll complete this task within the time limit.
The second challenge is the Phileas Fogg Challenge. Tim has 36 hours to visit 10 mystery destinations in mainland UK, all of which have a connection (however tenuous) to Green Templeton. Jim has agreed to be his accomplice, and will present Tim with a clue to each new destination, the difficulty of which is dependent on how much we have raised. If Tim doesn’t race through the door by 7.00pm on the 6th, he has to pay an interesting forfeit…
The third challenge is a row-a-thon – staff, students and fellows are gamely taking to the ergos for half hour slots so we can attempt to complete 36 hours of non-stop rowing. A huge thank you to those who have already signed up! You can sign up here.
Wednesday 5 February
07:00 – With the main events starting off in the Stables, there will be cupcakes, badges, tea and coffee on offer throughout the day to fuel the events!
14:00 – Green Templeton staff Blue & White fancy dress judging, with prizes for the best costume!
17:30 – Our college children will be making a homemade ‘thank you’ card in the Hayloft.
19:30 – For those who have booked into college dinner there will be a Blue & White themed dinner and raffle tickets available for the chance to win a crested hamper.
20:00 – The Stables bar will open for a student quiz night with bucket bar (£1.50 per drink, with 50p for each going to Giving Day).
21:00 – The quiz begins, with prizes at stake for the winners!
Thursday 6 February
08:00 – Free Danish pastries in the Stables bar as day two kicks off.
10:30 – Yet more treats will follow with a Blue & White Bake Off competition, with entries delivered to Debbie by 10:30. From 10:30 the judging begins, with prizes for the tastiest and prettiest creations!
14:00 – Lady Jay, High Sheriff of Oxford, will be visiting and announcing the Bake Off winner, with the fabulous cakes then to be devoured at 50p a slice.
18:30 – As we near the Giving Day finish line, the raffle winners will be announced, and Tim and Denise will hopefully return victorious from their challenges.
19:00 – Live music and party poppers shall mark the end of a busy Giving Day!
All these events will be updated on our social media channels, as well as the Giving Day website, so everyone can dip in and out and keep track of progress.
How can you get involved?
We are still looking for Giving Day Ambassadors – to spread the word in the run-up and during the event, so we can have a big push to raise funds for the college. Sign up to be an ambassador on the Giving Day page.
During the event, pop into the Stables bar at any time during the 36 hours and catch up with fundraising progress on the live feed, shown on a screen. Join us at the launch at 7.00am on Wednesday 5 February, and help yourself to a branded cupcake and a badge – add it to your lanyard! Keep spreading the word, and remember that all the money we raise goes back to supporting our students and college.
