Emeritus Fellow Dr Keith Ruddle was recognised for services to the community in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, in the King’s New Year Honours.

Keith was awarded the British Empire Medal (Civil Division) for his contributions in his capacity as Volunteer Co-Ordinator, Chipping Norton News.

Keith was recognised alongside his wife Jill Thorley, who have both have spent the past 26 years volunteering at the Cotswold town’s community newspaper.

The duo, who joined when they had full time jobs and were not journalists, revived its production when it temporarily stopped in 1999.

Keith stressed the BEMs are ‘very much a reflection of the great team effort that helped provide valuable communication for the town’s community’.

Green Templeton congratulates Keith and Jill on their recognition.
