Charlotte Lee to cox Oxford Lightweight Women’s Blue Boat

The Oxford Lightweight Boat Races are to be held on Sunday 15 March 2020 on the Thames in London. We are proud that Green Templeton student Charlotte Lee (Clinical Medicine, 2016) is coxing the Oxford Women’s Lightweight (OUWLRC) Blue Boat this year, following in the footsteps of another Blue Boat cox and current Boat Club President, Green Templeton’s Jolet Mimpen (DPhil Molecular and Cellular Medicine, 2016) who coxed the team in 2019.
Spectators are invited to come to London Rowing Club to watch the races live from London Rowing Club on Putney Embankment from 14:30, where there will be also be screens there to watch the livestream of the races. The schedule is as follows:
- 15:00: 37th Lightweight Women’s Boat Race
- 16:00: 46th Lightweight Men’s Boat Race
- 17:30: Prize Giving

Charlotte said: “I’m really proud to be part of the 2019/20 OUWLRC squad and the Blue Boat, continuing the strong tradition of GTC sportswomen! Since the announcement I have been amazed by the support from everyone at GTC. Even yesterday whilst popping in to check my pidge, I received so many meaningful words of dark blue support, some by people I’ve never spoken to; something that I think epitomises the community spirit I have experienced at GTC. It’s the first year on the Tideway for the LW women’s Boat Race, and it’s a strange feeling to be in the boat that starts this new chapter. I learned a lot as the Tethys cox last year, especially from Jolet (wwjd = what would Jolet do…), so after two years of work, I absolutely cannot wait to race in the Boat Race and smash the tabs!”
Alongside rowing, Charlotte studies clinical medicine, and was a student at Balliol previously before joining Green Templeton this year for her last three years of Medicine. We are proud to have Charlotte representing Green Templeton, and wish Charlotte and all in the Blue Boat the best of luck for the 15 March!
