Organisation founded by Associate Fellow Dr Nicholas Hicks wins at Health Service Journal Awards 2019

Om C AwardThe joint venture OptiMedis-COBIC, founded by its CEO Green Templeton College Associate Fellow Dr Nicholas Hicks, together with the North-East London Commissioning Support Unit led consortium, including Imperial College Health Partners, Social Finance and the consulting firm PPL, has won the renowned Health Service Journal Award 2019 (HSJ Award) in the category “System leadership initiative of the year”.

The HSJ Award is presented annually for excellence in healthcare. The winning initiative developed by the OptiMedis-COBIC led consortium demonstrated how a system integrator could deliver improved proactive and preventive care, benefitting individual patients, population health and the public purse. The basis was the adaptation of the OptiMedis model for population-oriented, integrated care in the Hampshire region. It involved identifying particular cohorts of patients, using data to give GPs insights into practice, and support for GPs and commissioners to roll out best practice. Patients were involved in pinpointing what was important to them. It resulted in a system integrator handbook to support future population health projects.
