Hear from previous winners:
The Green Templeton College Photography Competition began in 2009 to showcase the creative talents of the college’s members. It is made possible by the generous support of Dr Elman Poole, a retired neurologist living in Oxford, who has long had an interest in photography.
Eva Kohler
2017 winner: Moments I Shall Treasure
Eva said:
“I live in Observer’s House and what I particularly treasure with regards to studying at Oxford is the beautiful view I have when looking out of the window of my room. For me, the photo which shows my friend and Green Templeton College student in a student room in Observer’s House captures the idea of living on the Green Templeton campus – life is strongly characterised by studying but when doing so, there are always the short moments in between in which you can lift your eyes away from your reading list books and take a look at the beautiful Radcliffe Observatory.”
Bhagya Sivaraman
2016 winner: Green Templeton Looking Out
Bhagya said:
“I took this photograph in December 2015, standing near the designated smoking area close to the Mathematical Institute, opposite the Observatory. The reflection inside the watery eye on a cold, cold sunny morning exposes the elegance and royalty of the Observatory, conveying Green Templeton College ‘looking out’.”
Faraz Shibli
2015 winner: The Changing Face of Green Templeton College
Faraz said:
“I was working late in the library one night when the first snow of winter started to fall. I rushed outside with my South African friend, Ronรฉ, who had never before seen snow, and watched the blossom tree catching snowflakes in the McAlpine Quad.ย Not only did it represent the Changing Face of Green Templeton College in terms of the changing of the seasons, but also the transformation of a less often photographed part of the college’s lovely grounds.”
