New roles for Professor Robert Walker at Beijing Normal University and Harvard Kennedy School

Professor Robert Walker is an Emeritus Fellow of Green Templeton College. He is an Associate Fellow and Emeritus Professor at the Department of Social Policy and Intervention, University of Oxford, and Professor in Social Policy and Development at Beijing Normal University, China.Professor Robert Walker, Emeritus Fellow of Green Templeton College, has been newly appointed as a Professor in the China Academy of Social Management and School of Sociology, Beijing Normal University, and as a Fellow at the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy, Harvard Kennedy School.

In the China Academy, he will continue his research on the nature of poverty in China, where, under the 14th Five Year Plan, the policy focus is expected to shift from the eradication of absolute poverty to the alleviation of relative poverty.

During his association with the Shorenstein Center, he will investigate the contention that, with the aid of international media, COVID-19 has been constructed as a political instrument in the competition for economic and ideological supremacy, albeit at the cost of many thousands of lives.
