Sara Shaw to direct new initiative to help transform healthcare
Senior Research Fellow Professor Sara Shaw will lead a new programme of work for rapid evaluation of technology-enabled remote monitoring in health and care, the DECIDE (Digitally Enabled Care in Diverse Environments) centre.
Funded by a £2 million award from the NIHR Health and Social Care Delivery Research (HSDR) programme, the programme is a partnership between the University of Oxford and RAND Europe.
Sara said,
‘We’re delighted to launch DECIDE and to bring more focus to the potential of technology-enabled remote monitoring through rapid evaluation in health and social care. DECIDE is funded by NIHR for three years, and aligns with work we’ve been conducting on technology and innovation, along with colleagues, for several years.
‘Green Templeton College continues to be a pivotal place for discussion and debate about health and care, and the role of technology and innovation. As a Senior Research Fellow at GTC, I’m looking forward to extending that discussion with colleagues and more widely across research, policy and practice.
‘With the increasing use of digital tools, devices and applications to remotely monitor people’s health and well-being, the evaluation and debate will be critical in progressing – where relevant and helpful – real-time understanding of people’s health and care status, proactive intervention and more personalised care.’
Professor Sara Shaw is a Senior Research Fellow of Green Templeton College. She is Professor of Translational Health, Policy and Practice at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford.
