Brendon Mahere

Brendon is pursuing an MSc in Sustainability, Enterprise, and the Environment at Oxford and holds a BSc in Engineering and Management Science with a concentration in Renewable Energy Systems from Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco. He is a Makomborero Zimbabwe and Mastercard Foundation (ALA) Scholar, as well as a Rhodes Scholar.
Passionate about sustainable finance and climate tech entrepreneurship, Brendon is a 2x founder of startups reimagining financing construction and energy projects in Africa. He has broad research experience across natural climate solutions, metal organic frameworks for carbon capture, and circularity in aviation. Brendon also brings international professional experience from his work with a maritime investment firm in New York City and a UK-based boutique consultancy.
Previously, he served as the Regional Leader for Africa at PRME Global Students, collaborating with sustainability-focused student organizations. In his free time, Brendon enjoys jiu jitsu, watercolor painting, and football.

Jianing YangMSc Comparative Social Policy, 2024

Jianing Yang is from Xiaoshan, China. Before coming to Oxford, Jianing did his Bachelor degree at Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College, majoring in Social Work and Social Administration.

Zeyang WangMSt Women’s, Gender, and Sexualities Studies, 2024

Zeyang Wang (he/him) is a current interdisciplinary master’s student at the University of Oxford majoring in Women’s, Gender, and Sexualities Studies. Graduated from the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) with a First-Class BA in Communications and Korean, his research encompasses feminist politics, mediated homosexuality, queer literature, queer ethnography, and East Asian youth subculture. Advocating to re-introduce existentialism in contemporary minority studies, Zeyang’s articles have been internationally published and peer-reviewed in the Journal of Homosexuality, the Asian Journal of Women’s Studies, Sexuality & Culture, etc. He is the recipient of the 2024 Academic Achievement Award (AAA) and a holder of the Li Yip Yio Chin Scholarship and Tu Haiming Scholarship. At present, Zeyang serves as one of the nine co-chairs in the Oxford Feminist Thinking Seminar Series.

Khoriah IndrihutamiMSc International Health and Tropical Medicine, 2024

I hold a Medical Doctor (MD) degree from the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Padjadjaran, Indonesia.

Prior to pursuing the MSc in International Health and Tropical Medicine, I worked at the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit Indonesia (OUCRU Indonesia) as a Research Physician in a phase II whole sporozoite malaria vaccine trial from which I published an article of the trial’s implementation.

Shortly after, I shifted role to Clinical Research Coordinator for a COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness study in collaboration with Universitas Gadjah Mada and the US CDC where I managed all of the research activities, from protocol development to data analysis. Additionally, I managed and oversee the clinical safety in all of the ongoing clinical trials within OUCRU Indonesia. In 2023, I was awarded the Indonesian Endowment Fund scholarship to pursue a master’s degree.

My research interests include sexual and reproductive health, period poverty, WASH, and infectious diseases of poverty.

I love 80s music and trying out new foods.

Konstantinos MitiDPhil Cardiovascular Sciences, 2024

My name is Konstantinos Miti and I come from Cyprus. I am a graduate of Biological Sciences from the State University of Cyprus and I have recently obtained my Master’s degree on Molecular & Cellular Biology from Sorbonne University, France, specializing in Developmental Biology. Now, I am a DPhil student at the University of Oxford with a scholarship from The British Heart Foundation. This organisation plays a crucial role in advancing research, promoting heart health, and supporting individuals affected by cardiovascular diseases, and is an honour to be a member of their coordinated effort for a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases.

I am a sports enthusiast. I love playing football and going to the gym. I am looking forward to the social life of college and Oxford.
