As summer approaches, we’re shining a light on sustainability at Green Templeton. From celebrating Fairtrade and sharing eco-friendly tips to launching our brand new Swap Shop, there are lots of ways to get involved. Read on to find out more and join us in making a difference.

Great Big Green Week: Wednesday 11 June
We’re excited to take part in the Great Big Green Lunch, a fun and tasty sustainability challenge from Good Food Oxfordshire. Join us for a shared plant-based lunch featuring locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Support climate action and book in for lunch!
Green Impact
We’re going for a hat-trick! Green Templeton has participated in the Green Impact awards for several years, achieving the highest accolade — Beyond Gold — for the past two years.
Green Impact is a United Nations award-winning programme that helps colleges and departments take practical steps to support the University’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy, with goals of net zero carbon and biodiversity net gain by 2035.

GTC Swap Shop
Moving out or clearing space? Donate your unwanted items to the new GTC Swap Shop. Incoming students often need basic household items — help us reduce waste and support each other.
Donation dates: 📍 Stables Bar 🕘 Friday 27 June and Monday 30 June, 9:00 to 12:00
Items we can accept:
- Crockery (not chipped)
- Glassware (clean and intact)
- Cutlery (in sets)
- Cooking equipment (unmarked)
- Tupperware (with lids, good condition)
- Laundry baskets
- Blankets (clean)
- Bike accessories
- Winter coats (no other clothing, please)
Where else to donate or recycle
Clothing, accessories, books
- Mind – 118 Walton Street
- Sobell House – Little Clarendon Street
- Mercy in Action – Little Clarendon Street (also accepts small household items)
Clothing, homewares, music
- Oxfam – 17 Broad Street (Also accepts postal donations)
Electrical items
- John Lewis (Westgate) accepts a wide range of electrical items for recycling, including air fryers and waffle makers. More information and a lengthy list of items they accept
Unused toiletries
- The Hygiene Bank supports people living in hygiene poverty – Nearest drop-off: Boots, Cornmarket Street
Non-perishable food
- Donation points include Co-op, Waitrose, M&S, Asda and Sainsbury’s across Oxford
- You can also use the Stables Gallery donation box on-site
Batteries
- Use the battery recycling box in the Lodge
WEEE waste (laptops, phones, IT items)

- Drop at the Lodge. Our supplier will securely erase all data and either refurbish or recycle them.
