College hosts Treasure Island pantomime for families in Stables Bar

Pantomime Green Templeton

Green Templeton College played host to its first-ever pantomime when a scallywag pirate in search of treasure came to town!

The college arranged a festive treat for the youngest members of its community by arranging for a performance of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic, Treasure Island, by Chaplins Pantos4Kids.

The fun-filled extravaganza featured a cast of three actors playing five roles, including the mischievous Long John Silver, heroic Jenny Jiggles, and exasperated inn owner, Dame Auntie Nelly.

Green Templeton’s community brought their children, grandchildren and young relatives along to the Stables Bar for the 75-minute treat, which had all the elements of classic panto: cheering, jeering, silly jokes, confusion and, of course, the good ol’ “it’s behind you!” scenario.

The Stables Bar was transformed into an auditorium for the afternoon, with bright lights, colourful scenery, booming sound effects, eye-catching costumes, and rows of giggling children.

The pantomime was free of charge and aimed at everyone from three to twelve years old.

It was the first time the college has hosted a pantomime, organised by the Graduate Common Room and Principal Denise Lievesley, with many attendees expressing their gratitude afterwards at such a fun afternoon.

Green Templeton is proud to be a family-friendly college and hosts events for families throughout the year such as children’s movie screenings, brunch and a family-friendly disco.
