Two fellows made Professors
Andrew Sharott and Aidong Yang have both received a 2023 Recognition of Distinction. This honour confers to each of them the title of Professor at the University of Oxford.
Andrew Sharott is Professor of Neuroscience.
Andrew is an MRC Investigator at the MRC Brain Network Dynamics Unit at the University of Oxford. His key research areas are the mechanisms through which large populations of neurons across the brain enable cognition and behaviour, identifying the ways in which these neural dynamics are disturbed in disease, and developing ways of normalising these pathological activities for therapy using brain stimulation.
Commenting on his recognition, Andrew said
‘I’m very honoured to have been given the title of Professor. It would not have been possible without the support of my family, colleagues, collaborators and lab members. A big thank you for all their support, mentorship and hard work along the way.’
Aidong Yang is Professor of Engineering Science.
Aidong’s research interests lie in developing methods and tools for modelling chemical/biochemical processes and related systems, and in applying models and other systems engineering approaches to support the development of sustainable energy, engineering and manufacturing systems.
Reflecting on his recognition, Aidong said,
‘This is a great encouragement to the work of our research group and our collaborations with the wider community to address some of the pressing challenges such as industrial decarbonisation.’
Green Templeton congratulates Professor Sharott and Professor Yang on this recognition.
