Professor Baron Derrick-Philippe Gosselin

Professor Baron Derrick-Philippe Gosselin is an Associate Fellow of Green Templeton College, University of Oxford. His research centres on strategic foresight and futures thinking – complex, long-term decision-making in turbulent and uncertain environments – in both business and government.
Since 2013 he has chaired the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre (SCK CEN), which develops radiopharmaceutical cancer treatments and advanced small modular reactors. He serves also as Vice-Chairman of the Belgian Royal Higher Institute for Defence and on EASAC’s Energy Steering Panel. He served on NATO’s Advisory Board on Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (2022–2025).
He holds MSc degrees in electrical and industrial engineering and a PhD in economics from Ghent University. He is Emeritus Professor at its School of Economics, where he held the Chair of Strategy & International Technology Marketing (2001–2021), and was an Oxford Martin Associate Fellow (2007–2023).
He is a member of Academia Europaea and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts (KVAB). He was appointed Grand Officer of the Belgian Order of Leopold in 2024.
