Dr Jeong-Ran Kim
Dr Jeong-Ran Kim is a Common Room Member of Green Templeton College and a Research Associate in the Oxford Centre for History of Science, Medicine and Technology, with an affiliation to the Pandemic Sciences Institute, University of Oxford.
Prior to that she was a Research Fellow at Kobe University, from which she obtained her doctorate. She has worked extensively on the history of medicine in modern Japan and Korea in a wider context (particularly the Japanese Empire and Cold War).
Currently she is working on an interdisciplinary research project “Medicine and Conflict, c.1945-c.1980: The United Kingdom and the ‘Savage Wars of Peace’” which is funded by the AHRC. Her research covers the (re)construction of the medical and public health systems in Korea in the Cold War and Japan’s involvement in the Korean War (1950-1953).
