Dr Nick Broughton
Dr Nick Broughton an Associate Fellow at Green Templeton College, University of Oxford. He is the Chief Executive of the NHS Thames Valley Integrated Care Board (ICB) and the National Priority Programme Director for Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Neurodevelopmental Disorders working between NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care.
He is a forensic psychiatrist by background and a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He spent most of his clinical career working in a variety of settings in west London including adult prisons, a young offenders’ institution and secure psychiatric hospitals. He was Medical Director of West London Mental Health Trust for 6 years during which time he was Clinical Director of NHS London’s mental health programme.
He led Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust for three years from June 2020 and prior to that was Chief Executive of both Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
He has held a variety of other board level and leadership positions at both regional and national level. He is a trustee of two national mental health charities, The Charlie Waller Trust and James’ Place.
He obtained his medical degree from Cambridge University and completed his training at St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School, London. He is an associate fellow at Green Templeton College, University of Oxford.
