Dr Rebecca Barnes

Rebecca Barnes Profile Picture with chin resting on armDr Rebecca Barnes is a Research Fellow at Green Templeton College and an Associate Professor and NIHR Fellow in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford. She is currently leading a programme of research on the management of patient risk in urgent primary care.

Rebecca’s work focuses on interaction in medicine with a view to addressing professional/practical problems, which she approaches as a conversation analyst. Her recent work has focused on help-seeking in calls to NHS 111, out-of-hours visits, antibiotic treatment decision-making and risk communication.

Rebecca also holds an honorary research position at the University of Bristol where she continues her work with the One in a Million archive of primary care consultations.
