Participant Feedback

“I wanted to offer my congratulations.  As usual the meeting was as smooth as silk despite all the problems that the weather raised.  No doubt there were lots of other problems that we did not see but on the surface all was calm.”

“Again hearty congratulations on another terrific EMS.”

“Thank you for a wonderful meeting and your hospitality.”

“The meeting content and participants were superb, the cuisine was fabulous and the visit to the Ashmolean a great idea.”

“I very much enjoyed the interaction. I’ll be looking forward to seeing the recommendations that came out of it.”

“What made the symposium successful? I thought the mix of scientists, policy makers and social scientists was very good. The strong medical framing around a clearly defined research programme (was very helpful). The opening lecture (as always) was first rate and set the tone brilliantly. I also felt the interview with (James) Heckman and the outing to the Ashmoleum was a very positive innovation. I think we benefitted from the greater length, especially in our deliberations on the final day. The final sessions worked very well as a result.”

“Congratulations on the success of the symposium!  Also, I want to thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to part of the EMS.”

“First, let me say how much I enjoyed the Emerging Markets Symposium dealing with the whole area (of) Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition.  Management of the minute details surrounding the Symposium made it possible to focus on the points of discussion and creativity in developing the Symposium’s final recommendations.”

“I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to attend the EMS symposium. It was enormously beneficial to me professionally (realizing that was not your goal) and a joy to see the commitment of the group to these critical problems. I also wanted to mention particularly how wonderful your staff were to both work with and watch manage this effort. Those ‘behind the scenes’ efforts are critical to the success of a meeting such as this and all of them were fantastic.”

“Thank you for a splendid symposium.  It is a stimulating experience to be part of EMS and each time I’ve returned home with new determination to ‘do something’ to improve the lives of others.”

“It was my honor and privilege to share those exciting three days with the amazing group of people you brought together. Congratulations and thank you so much for including me.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the symposium. I think it’s more like running the Cirque du Soleil making sure people don’t fall from the sky!  Again, thank you for including me, there is always so much to learn.”

“It was a thoroughly enjoyable and stimulating couple of days…just unfortunate I could not stay to the end.”

“It was indeed a pleasure for me to attend the meeting and, from my perspective, I learned a tremendous amount from the many experts that you had assembled.  The side conversations that I was able to engage in were stimulating and, as a result, I now have many people to follow up with regarding common areas of interest, particularly around strategies for change and innovation.”

“I look forward to seeing the report and will be happy to provide any comments that may be useful.  It was an honor to be included in the Symposia.”

“The meeting was an inspiration for me, and I enjoyed it very much – thank you so much for inviting me to be part of it. I am travelling a lot over the coming month, but will be in e-mail contact most of the time, and will certainly comment on material that you send me.”

“I very much enjoyed the Oxford event and appreciate your having invited me.”

“It was, as always, a pleasure to participate. I do hope our paths cross again in the future.”

“It is a great pleasure to be involved and I always learn so much more than I contribute.”

“I greatly enjoyed the event. I look forward to reading more about the output.”

“Many thanks for everything you did for the conference and for us. It was perfect.”

“I am deeply grateful for the hard work of the staff and student helpers.  It clearly showed in the lead up to and execution of the Symposium.  I learned a great deal that I’ve been able to apply usefully to my work since I returned.  And it was a fun and very interesting group to be with”

“I look forward to your report and the chance to comment and also to reviewing the media output following.”

“Congratulations once again for the excellent symposium and thank you for the opportunity to contribute.”

“Many thanks and congratulations.”

“Thank you very much indeed for a tremendously interesting and captivating symposium.”
