Rich Expectations
Around 50 people gathered at Green Templeton on 18 March 2026 to celebrate the recent launch of ‘Rich Expectations: Why Rich People Give’ (Directory of Social Change, 2025).
Sponsored by Philanthropy Company and jointly presented by the college as part of its Conversations in Global Philanthropy discussion series, the evening began with a fascinating talk by Professor Beth Breeze OBE, one of the book’s authors and currently Principal of Harris Manchester College. Beth spoke first about the theme of the evening – the role of women in philanthropy, and how that role has been seen and valued (or not) – and then more broadly about the book’s chief research findings.
Beth also participated in a panel discussion. Chaired by Philanthropy Company’s CEO, Caroline Underwood OBE, the panel also featured Kate Symondson PhD, Head of Philanthropy at The Symondson Foundation, and Sonal Sachdev Patel, CEO of the GMSP Foundation.
