Alumni Profile: Yue-Kiu (Nathaniel) Chan

Nathan Chan 1Yue-Kiu (Nathaniel) Chan (MBA, 2016) is a Chinese-Canadian trisector professional currently serving as Assistant Director in an administrative capacity at the University of Hong Kong’s business school.  Prior to this, he was the Director of Sustainability at Regal Hotels International, one of the largest hotel groups in Hong Kong.  Nathaniel also volunteers his time as an Executive Committee Member of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong) and Member of the Board of Directors at the Hong Kong Jewish Film Festival.  In 2019, he was awarded a full scholarship by Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups to represent the special administrative region as a delegate on the “Leadership for Inclusive Futures in Asia” Global Seminar Peace Boat voyage. While in 2023, Nathaniel was selected to participate in the Australia-China Youth Dialogue in Chengdu, as well.

During his MBA year at the University of Oxford from 2016 to 2017, he was elected Co-Chair of the Asia-Pacific Oxford Business Network and Steering Committee Member at OxPeace, while also captaining the MBA and GTC’s basketball clubs. Furthermore, Nathaniel founded Oxford’s 1st virtual reality Meetup group and with his classmates, co-founded a VR healthcare start-up to treat dementia.  He also volunteered as a Peer Supporter for both the college and business school, an experience that he found truly rewarding.  Almost a full decade later, memories of the delicious college formal dinners at the Radcliffe Observatory still cross his mind from time to time! 

Prior to Oxford, Nathaniel had worked in municipal government as a Research Analyst for the City of Toronto and as a Social Media Analyst for one of Canada’s “Big Five” banks.

Inspired by Green Templeton College’s established legacy of fostering global connections, service to others and intellectual curiosity, Michael, Gladys and I have founded the college’s new Hong Kong Alumni Society here in Asia’s world city, with a view to continue engaging our fellow alumni in both mind and spirit, sparking meaningful discussions while driving positive impact in our local community.
