Bio

I am currently in my final year as an academic clinical fellow in geriatric medicine in South East London and have just completed the new Internal Medicine Training Programme (IMT3). I initially undertook my preclinical training at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, before coming to GTC for clinical studies from 2012 to 2015. Following this, I undertook Foundation training in NW Thames, London, as part of the academic foundation programme.

Following foundation training, I took time out of clinical practice and was awarded a scholarship-funded Master of Public Health (Health Policy) at Harvard University, where I developed a network of international colleagues passionate about improving the health systems in which they work. As a National Medical Director’s clinical fellow at NHS England and Improvement the following year (2018 to 2019), I took on various roles related to supporting the medical workforce. I chaired a cross-party working group to improve exception reporting for trainees and guardians, co-authored national guidance on effective trainee supervision and co-founded Women Speakers in Healthcare, an initiative committed to redressing gender imbalance across health and social care – do check out our website!

I have growing interests in frailty and delirium research, healthcare policy and medical leadership and am delighted to be continuing my academic journey next year by undertaking a Wellcome Trust-funded multimorbidity PhD fellowship. I will be based at the University of Edinburgh, undertaking research looking at multimorbidity, delirium, and outcomes in hospitalized patients using routine clinical and national audit data.
