Tuesday 17 November 2020 15:30 to 17:00Location: |
Virtual Event |
A screening of the 2017 film The Work, directed by Jairus McLeary and Gethin Aldous, followed by a discussion.
This documentary follows three civilians as they participate in a four-day group therapy retreat with Folsom State Prison inmates. Over the four days, each man in the room takes his turn at delving deep into the past. A raw and revealing process ensues which forces the free men to see themselves and the prisoners in unexpected ways.
After a brief introduction of the film, a link will be provided for everyone to watch the segment/s online (up to 40 minutes) and after the viewing participants will regroup for a discussion.
This is a virtual event via Teams.
The Green Templeton College Medical Anthropology and Film Discussion Group has chosen the theme of ‘invisible suffering’ brought by chronic illness and trauma for its Michaelmas series of meetings.
